Most of the wooden blocks were roughly the same size and weight and has a metal hook attached to it. However, some wooden blocks were different in weight and surface area, therefore it might affect this experiment’s outcome depend on which combinations of blocks used. Processed Data Conclusion Questions - Part One When the force of gravity was doubled, the force of friction was close to double, and when the force of gravity was tripled, the force of friction was close to triple the previous amount as well. It would also be quadrupled if the force of gravity is quadrupled. Total force of gravity = force of frictions / 4 . . Conclusion Questions - Part Two The surface area of the blocks does not affect the force of friction by that much. Therefore, the force of the friction will be the same no matter what the surface area is if the force of gravity is the same. The sources of error could be that the blocks are not all identical and can cause the surface area to be different, as well as the measurement of the force of gravity and friction.
