The relevant seating plan. Numbers of seats correspond to numbers in the list of persons above. The complement of passengers will consist of sixty-one eighth-grade students. There will be a crew of seven, including three flight attendants. On the eastbound journey, the airplane will depart from New York-Idlewild Airport at 14.00 on Saturday, May 1st; arrive at Shannon Airport at 07.00 on Sunday, May 2nd and depart at 08.00; and arrive at London Airport at 09.40. Dinner will be served at 19.15 or 19.30 and breakfast at 08.15. On the westbound journey, the airplane will depart from London Airport at 20.30 on Saturday, May 8th; arrive at Shannon Airport at 22.15 and depart at 23.15; arrive at Gander Airport at 04.35 on Sunday, May 9th and depart at 05.20; and arrive at New York-Idlewild Airport at 07.40. There will be no in-flight meal service. Students’ families will be given the chance to purchase sleeper berths for their children. Those in the sleeper seats who have not purchased berths will be accommodated in the lounge for the night. One student is wheelchair-bound and thus will have to be seated in the space occupied by seat 46, which will be removed. In charge of the trip are two teachers and six parent chaperones (a 1:10 ratio of chaperones to students). They will be traveling in a DC-7 flying at around the same time.
