With the split perspectives of Lina and Doon, we got to learn more about the characters, what they’ve been through, and what is occurring in their daily lives. If the book had only been one perspective, It probably would not be as strong, as we would only learn about one of the characters when both Lina and Doon play a very important part in the story. With one perspective, the same time we learn more about one character, we don’t really get to know about the other. 3. The mayor has been extremely selfish throughout his command over ember. Originally, he never really cared about the people but he only cared about himself. I think that the only reason the guards followed him was so that they would get something in return. He didn’t try to help ember in it’s time of need, but he would rather enjoy it while it lasts. Looper is also really selfish, as he would be like the guards and get things in return. Not only would he use them, but he would sell some of the items and completely overprice them in his shop, so he could take advantage of the fact that he was working with the mayor. Still, I would think that the mayor is more selfish because that he has the title mayor. He only cares about himself, but not the city, and the fact that he is mayor is mindblowing. 4.
