You can use the Micro USB cable to charge your eReader and connect it to your computer. Before using your Kobo eReader for the first time, you may have to charge it for up to four hours. Once your eReader is charged, you can set it up over a Wi Fi connection, or by connecting it to your computer. It’s important to set up your eReader before you start using it, so you can download your Kobo eBooks, and update your eReader with the latest firmware and software. Setting up your eReader using a computer To set up your eReader using your computer, you need to download the Kobo Desktop app and follow a few steps on your eReader. Your computer must be connected to the Internet to set up your eReader. Go to kobosetup.com on your computer. Click Download now. After Kobo Desktop is downloaded, install it on your computer. Follow the steps on the Kobo setup page after you click the download button. Turn on your eReader. Connect one end of the Micro USB cable to your eReader and the other end to a USB port on your computer. Tap your language. Tap Don’t have a Wi Fi network?. Open Kobo Desktop on your computer. Click Get Started. Sign in to Kobo with one of these options: Enter your Kobo account details and click Join. Click Create Account, enter the details for your new account, and click Join. Click Sign in with Facebook and enter your Facebook login details. Click Get Started. If you already have Kobo books, you’ll see them being added to your eReader. If required, on the Share Activity to Facebook page, click Log in or Skip. Click Continue. Click Eject. Click OK. Unplug the Micro USB cable. Your eReader will finish setting up and the Home page will appear. Setting up your eReader over a Wi Fi connection To set up your eReader over Wi Fi, all you need is an active Wi Fi connection. If you don’t see the Wireless Setup option on the second setup screen, please complete setup with a computer. Turn on your eReader. Tap your language. Tap Set up over Wi Fi. Your eReader will search for local Wi Fi networks, and show you a list of what’s available. Tap the network you want to connect to. If necessary, use the on-screen keyboard to enter the network password. Tap Join on your keyboard. If necessary, tap Date, Time, or Time Zone. Tap Continue. Your eReader will download any available updates. The updates may take up to 20 minutes to complete. Tap the sign-in option you wish to use, and use the on-screen keyboard to enter your details. If you already have Kobo books, you’ll see them being added to your eReader. Charging your Kobo eReader Before using your Kobo eReader for the first time, you should charge it for four hours. A fully charged Kobo eReader battery can last up to two months depending on how frequently you use your eReader. We recommend you charge your Kobo eReader with the supplied Micro USB cable. If you need to replace your Micro USB cable, you can get a new one at any location where Micro USB cables are sold. Follow these steps to charge your eReader. Turn on your computer. Connect your Micro USB cable to your eReader and your computer. You can continue reading while your eReader charges. You can see the battery's charge in the top-right corner of the screen.
